May 20, 2013 Reinna's off to Argentina

We just received an email from Reinna this morning and she received her visa for Argentina on Friday and is flying out today. She's SUPER excited as you can imagine and we're just as excited for her. Yesterday when I spoke in Ephrata there were two sister missionaries who started their missions in December, but are in the Spokane mission waiting for their visas to Peru. Of the four missionaries headed to Argentina that went to Wisconsin only Reinna and an Elder are headed out today. The other two didn't receive theirs yet. Major bummer! We spoke to her for a couple of minutes at noon as she was about to get on a plane to head to Atlanta. She's going to call one more time from Atlanta this afternoon and then we won't talk to her until Christmas. Dang! That seems like a long time away! Her flight plan is pretty awesome this time in that she goes from Milwaukee to Atlanta and then has a direct flight to Buenos Aires. She's scheduled to arrive at 8:15AM tomorrow...nice red eye to Buenos Aires. Of course Resistencia is pretty far north from Buenos Aires, but she doesn't know if somebody is meeting them there to put them on a different flight, taking them to a bus depot or what. All part of the adventure I suppose. She does have the mission president's phone number, so I'm sure it will all work out fine:)

5-6-13 email to dad

So today we are gonna go to this place called the Domes, it looks like three huge alien pods but I will take tons of pictures and then send my card home :) 

I didn't know Elder Reynolds from our stake was here! I will hunt him down. Transfers are on the 15th so maybe i will see him. Also Hermana Lauren Case is from Austin Texas. She only has three months left and she is the bomb! In the pictures i am sending home she is the one with shorter hair. Hermana Erica Wilcox is from Bluffdale Utah and has been out for about 3 months, but she has actually only been set apart two weeks longer than me! crazy right?! Also You are such a beast! way to run! (Dad's been trying to run regularly and stay in shape) I got sick again this week with a cold so we didn't run for three days but I have been trying to just eat better. Oh so i have been dying to throw a softball around, hopefully we can get a hold of some mitts, but my companions were teasing me and telling me to bridle my pasions and she was right, the spirit can't get through if i am distracted. Well I am glad my spanish isnt totally dead yet. i know it will come back in a hurry if i get to argentina but it is gonna make my first chunck of time there pretty tough, so i think you are online so i will send this but i am so glad everything is going so well there :)

Oh the joy of soccer rules! Yeah that rule is a weird one :) I am so glad the soccer team did good though. Is Connelly a mid yet? or still rocking the defender position? I sent you a letter detailing my last pday, did you get it? I am gonna send this so you know i am online. Love you!

I hope i can call from argentina on Mother's Day! like I had one day this week where i got pretty stressed and upset but i was also sick and i was wondering if i would ever leave, but it is important to trust the lord because i know he knows what is best for me. So i don't know if i told you this but Milwaukee has a garbage problem like it isn't as bad as the DR but there are wrappers in almost everybody's yard and that could just be where i am at, but it is weird...Yeah i have been working on not judging by appearacnes becuase some places are just sketchy looking!

I think it will be skype and church gets done at 5:30 so after then...i don't know the time difference though. I love you dad! 4/22/13

Querida familia,

I have been gone for almost two months! How crazy is that?! So I hope you are all doing great. Connelly is like my investigators here...like when they say they will meet with us and then they aren't home. Yep Connelly, you said you would write, but I am letterless! Actually it is alright that you haven't written because I don't know when I'm leaving, but I feel really far away from you all now. It's strange. So my companions, hermana Wilcox is from Utah. She played some basketball in high school, but is mainly a volleyball player. She is super funny. Hermana Case has been out for a year....oh Wilcox has been set apart 2 weeks longer than me, but has been in the field 2 months longer than me! Weird! Anyway, Hermana Case mainly did track and volleyball, but they are both just as athletic. Oh I...whoa I totally lost my train of thought. I am really tired, but I have managed to stay awake for the last three days in personal study! YEA! It is super hard to focus your eyes that early in the morning.

Oh so apparently I am a germ freak! Like not super bad, but a little bit. We were knocking at an apartment complex and a super nice family let us in, but their house was a wreck and the dad was smoking and I had to shake his hand of course and yea, I was scared to touch things...I have been praying not to be OCD, but people are dirty...and everyone smokes here! Also, my hands are always so cold that other people's warm hands freak me out a little. Yea it sounds bad now that I writing my thoughts down:) I do hope to get over it soon because I see now that most people just tend to not be so clean. Oh I only have name tags in Spanish so everyone we meet thinks my name is Hermana while my companions' are "sister". It's kinda funny, but I am tempted to order an english name tag. Well, tell me about you all when you get the chance! I will get to Skype you next month, crazy right?!

Anyway, I pray for y'all all the time! I know you are all doing great because the Holy Ghost told me so:) I love being a missionary! I know that the iglesia de Jesucristo de los santos de los ultimos dias es verdadera. Yo se que Jose Smith fue un profeta llamado de dios y por medio de el, el tradujo el libro de mormon. Yo se que Thomas S Monson es un profeta de dios tambien. Les amo mucho! Estoy agradecido por nuestro Salvador y redentor, Jesucristo. Porque por medio de el, podemos regresar a nuestro padre celestial y vivir alla juntos. ¡Hey den los misioneros referencias! I love you all so much! I hope life is great:)

(Dad's a little slow in posting emails this week. This one's a week late, but better late than never.)

Dad, I loved your letter(in Spanish)! I would attempt to type back in Spanish but that would take way long and I don't have that much time! But I didn't quite catch all you were saying about the soccer game and I don't have a dictionary present, but I am glad at least connelly played well. I wish I could play softball with you soooo bad! Oh that would be so much fun! one day...one day. Yep life here is good I have finally gotten a better handle on my sleep. this week was hard because we had to wake up at 5:30 for training one day and 5:45 for service the next so yeah I was a zombie but i feel good now. So pretty much I am shocked at my positive attitude, like I am not worried about the fact that we didn't have one lesson with an investigator this week or that the missionaries who came here with me use there Spanish way more than me, because i know everything will work out. I know that the Lord has placed me here for a reason:) I am so glad that you are doing good there! My companions and I agreed to run everyday this week because one of my companions can't fit in her jeans anymore and she is pretty upset about that. But we dont' walk that much because we have a car and our area is over two stakes so we spend a ton of time driving! yeah it is alright though. whoa i am gonna send this and see if you are online

(Mom might have to add the email she sent to her as she took off early from the computer and I didn't get a chance to hear too many details this week. It does sound like she's doing well though and waiting patiently for her visa to arrive so she can finally head to Argentina. She did say she'd write a letter and drop it in the mail, so stay tuned!)
