December 30, 2013 Formosa, Argentina

Reinna wearing her stylish hat and her companion Hermana Valerio

Well a lot seems to have happened since we last spoke...Christmas day! Nope word on the street is that my mission used to be extremely disobediente so we aren´t allowed to spend holidays with families. We have to be in the apartment at 8 because everyone is way drunk. I am now in barrio 4 now, not rama parque. Also my companion now is Diana Valerio and my previous one was Leandra Otiniano.

So who won your games of bowling? i asked around and they don´t have bowling here. Also i have a third companion for the day because her companion had to go to Resistencia. I hardly got any sleep. We received the call that we were getting another companion for the day at 5:30 and well i got up and decided to clean and i gave her my bed, because i am charitable like that:) It was so awesome to see you all!!! It really did reenergize me! And really the end is shockingly close so i need to enjoy it now and then i will back home in no time :)

My companion and i are doing great and having tons of fun. We are also taking way more photos because i wanna give you something to look at when i get done...i am not quite as pro as you when it comes to taking pictures but i am improving :) Well i am gonna send this your way and i hope you are doing great!!!! I think about you all all the time and i know you are being watched over :) Love you!

haha you know i took that picture with my hat on just for you! I will send more next week if the computer isn´t stupid! Send the family tons of love too! Hey can you tell mom that the red skirt she sent me is fantastic and if she can i would love like two more, but different colors...you know thinking of my birthday and all...haha also the v necks are awesome! Thank you for all that you do! I hope you have a great week! I hope you conquer some geneology and find some people! Also tell Connelly how much i love him!!! I seriously pray for him very intently because i know how hard that senior year is, but let him know that if he trusts in the lord and prays like crazy, he will find that it is all doable and the lord will help him through by sending our best buddy the comforter. hey i love you!!!!!!

Where's Reinna instead of Waldo?

I am just excited to see all your faces tomorrow!!!! I kinda had a big eye opener yesterday when i talked to an hermana who is one of my best friends and she told me that her mom passed away Saturday. It was the first time that i can recall when i cried with someone. Normally i awkwardly stand there, but it broke my heart. But it made me think a lot about why i am here and also what is motivating her to keep going. But on a lighter note my week was better. My companion was transferred to Resistencia and i stayed in my area and the other sister training leader is now my companion. We've already had to do an emergency division the other day because we have to help out a companionship. I really am grateful for the opportunity i have to serve the other hermanas! But also my new companion and i were already friends so its been good. She is from Colombia and well, we get along really well. We helped 7 people come to church on Sunday, so that was also super fun and exciting! Well the plan is still on for noon your time tomorrow (Christmas)! We have some members who are letting us use their computer and yep i am sooo pumped to talk to you all!!!!! Tell connelly to enjoy some eggnog for me! Oh so i finally found that famous guarana drink you talk about. yep it is super weird! not sure if i like it yet, but we shall see. i had to buy it in a 2 litro bottle because it was the only one they had. well hey i need to write president, but i love you soooo much! Tell mom to get better, i think i saw a letter from her and i will send her a quick message! Love you!!!!!!!!!! OH So i received the best package in the world yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you soooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 16, 2013 Formosa, Argentina

Picture is compliments of a picture I took from President Heyman's Blog from their zone conference last week.

i started off last week with me and my companion being super sick. my stomach still hasn´t recovered. I'm hoping this week the stomach calms down bit:)

i went running this morning, it felt great! it was also crazy super hot! my companion ran with me to a plaza close to our house and then she stopped while i ran laps for a few minutes and then we ran back. Running felt super weird because i haven´t done it in so long, but also we have an amigos secretos thing so we bought a gift for someone in our zone. i bought a cool mate cup with the straw. I really need to buy one but there are so many cool ones it is hard to decide. also i bought some treats for some of the hnas in my zone because they are so awesome! I also took a nap today, i am not sure why because i already wake up every morning at 6 but oh
well. so is there snow there?

Tomorrow we have transfers. I don´t think i will go but it is definitely a possibility.

well dad i have to go, but i love you sooo much! i will skype you next week then, on the 25th at noon your time! I love you sooo much! i hope you have a great birthday and a great week! besitos!

Hermana Quick

Dad's words of comfort back to her:)

December 9, 2013 Formosa, Argentina

(Short one this week, so life must be going great!)

Yay for a visit from Austi!!!!! that should be super fun and that means that i will get to talk to all of you!!! Yay! oh so i totally didn´t know there was a five hour time difference between here and there, i thought it was only like 3:)

Well my week was pretty good. We had quite a few people at church and my companion and I are working super great together! Let's see...this week i got bit by a bug and my whole leg was swollen! It was intense! It was on my calf and the swelling spread all around my calf, yep it was huge and fat. So the doctor told me to go get some benadryl. The next day i had divisions and i took my benadryl as instructed and i just about fell asleep on my feet! My eyes were literally closing and i was rocking back and forth, yep it was horrible, but it wore off eventually. Lets see the weather has been weird, it goes from one or two days to intense heat and then rain and
then repeat. Today it is gonna rain, but tomorrow it will probably 100 something with gross humidity. Oh we also have transfers next week so that should be interesting, i hope i stay with my companion because we have a rhythm now and well we have moments when we drive each other crazy, but we work well together. Oh they also merged my branch with barrio puerto. it was kinda sad because our attendance had really increased but now we are a ward, and i have to figure out everybody's names! it's like transfers just happened again :)

i love you soooo much!!!! I hope you are doing great and tell the family how much i love them too! Love you!

December 2, 2013 Formosa, Argentina

That is so funny that you had a crazy testimony meeting because i had a doozy! We have a man that is ninety something and he thinks he was transfigured and well i won´t negate that but he announced it in three different hours and he got up and started with i just want you all to know the truth and the counselor of the stake presidency got up to tell him to sit down or bare his testimony and in the mic the old guy went off on him. so he finished his crazy story and well i am so glad the only investigators i had were kids because whoa! The branch president looked over at me with a look that says "whoa this is awkward" and the elders too! It is kinda funny that they kept sending looks my way but the elders and i are close and well our branch president is just like
that, he is super funny.

Yep on thanksgiving i had divisions with a girl from the states and i totally spaced it! i knew what day it was but i forgot to do anything cool, but i thought of you all a ton! well not that much because i was working.

This week was crazy! I barely got any sleep at all! i started off one night with bad dreams of every person i taught that never got baptized and then the next night i had to wake up at 4 and go to Resistencia for consejo, which was awesome! i was soooo tired but i learned a ton and i got to see hna Baker which was so cool because six months earlier we were sitting in the exact same room and i had just found out she was my trainer! It was great seeing the other hermanas and i saw hna Hext. She ran to greet me and slid about 4 feet and then her feet flew out from underneath her and she straight up biffed it! She kicked me on the way down, but i felt so bad i didn´t mention that part to her. She is doing really good though and then i got to talk to hna Skirvin. Well although i was exhausted i barely slept at all because i had to present what i had learned at consejo to our zone and i was freaking out! I did fine. i have a skill of hiding my nerves, but i was shaking. It went really well though and our zone made t-shirts and whoa are they low quality our leaders were so mad! But it just makes them more Argentinian. oh and then i ate a kilo of ice cream with hna Young and Stone to celebrate our halfway mark! wooo! It is crazy how fast time flies! The next day it rained like crazy! and well it continued until yesterday and
now it is just as hot again but with crazy humidity! I am soaked in nastiness, but i also went and played basketball with my companion so yep it was toasty! Oh but the other day i received a phone call of a crying hna so we went to the church that night to have inventory with them and when we got there there was also a baptism and the water was overflowing into the room so i grabbed a towel and i cleaned for about an hour and then we had inventory and they are good now but whoa some people just don´t know how to work with a companion. My companion and i are the definition of opposite, but we work really well together! In a companionship you can´t expect to change the other. You have to be willing to change yourself to find equilibrium, it isn´t easy, but if you don´t you won´t have the spirit and if you don´t have the spirit you shouldn´t even try teaching because nothing will come of it. But anyway we returned home super late again and it resulted in a really sleepy Sunday! I slept like a rock last night and now our schedule has changed and we have studies during the siesta and we work in the morning so that should be awesome! Yea that was my crazy week in a nutshell. I was so tired that it was suuuper hard to speak Spanish and i was a little emotional and a little trunky but i got through and now i only have one division left because one of our companionships got emergency transferred out of their area because they got robbed with a machete. don´t worry that is very far from my area! My area is tiny and tranquila. Thank you so much for sending me a package! you guys are the best!

Also i can Skype for 45 minutes or call for an hour on Christmas. i was thinking Skype and a member offered her home, so i don´t have details yet but i really hope i don´t get transferred because they are the week before Christmas and the Monday before transfers the whole mission is getting together for a Christmas activity so yep what would you like to do? Hey i love you all sooooo much! Dad thank you so much for your emails! there are missionaries who don´t get anything sometimes and whoa they look depressed!

Hey have you conquered rock band yet? who is playing with Connelly? is he looking at a lot of playing time? wait who is his coach? How is austi doing? Hey i love you soooo much and i will send you a memory card! I will
find a way! You are the best and i miss you but i know i am gonna be seeing you before i know it! Good luck with everything! Hey are you reffing yet?

November 18, 2013 Formosa, Argentina

Oh connelly i get chills every time i hear about his pro footballness. Consejo is when all the leaders like district and zone and sister training leaders meet up and we learn from president heyman and then we take it back to our zones and share it with them. Oh zone conference was awesome!!! I learned a ton! I didn´t have to speak it was just the heymans and the asistants. I also did divisions for the first time and it started off with one of the hnas breaking her key in the door and we could not enter to get her things until midnight and then i was a horrible example and me and hna stone stayed up talking until 4 in the morning. Hna stone came to argentina with me adnd is my best friend here on the mish, and suprisingly after our very short nap we got up and got going and worked a ton and i helped her organize her area a bit and helped her improve some things, but really she has the same time as me and she knows the routine of things. I will be doing divisions this week with an hermana that has way more time than me on the mission and she is from chile so i am a little nervous because it is also going to be in my area, but its all good she is super cool! Well i took some fotos today of the hat so i will send it your way and it isn´t too bad but well...it is the worst thing ever! it makes your head super sweaty and gross! But it's okay. So my companion is alright i tell her every time she does something weird now and she laughs because she doesn´t realize how weird it is until i make fun of her, she is kinda blond like that but we have great unity like we teach amazingly well together. But she does weird things outside of lessons. Yeah there are a lot of hnas that are freaky clean like your old comp but mine have never been like that, thank goodness. So everyone this week wanted to talk to me about the states and i heard the government there shut down for two weeks...that's weird but i guess i expect details later. hey was elder romney in one of the missions that got hit in the Philippines? i think it was Jeffery who was there but i don´t remember. so we also had the baptism of three chicas, i am so glad they are baptized now. i had a super creepy man molest my arm and when i told him to knock it off, my companion thought he was gonna deck me, but no worries he was a super small drunk old man. yea we talk to his wife and she had plans to come to church and eventually be baptized and she died the next day...we had a really weird week. we also saw a drunk guy crash into a telephone pole...it was horrible. oh yeah that all happened in one day, i think i met every crazy drunk person in Formosa. But anyway life is great, my companion and i are great, we wanna kill each other from time to time but we have the best inverntories and we both are pumped after wards. yeah its a weird companionship but we have the spirit and we teach well together but she thinks i am a freak because i don´t like to dance and i have never watch any of the barbie movies...yep we are different. The spanish is coming i had a rough week but my companion has no problem correcting me and i am learning a ton, i got your letter with the subjunctive stuff last week and my compnaion has been practicing with me. she is determined to help me figure it out and i am super gratefull. well i am gonna try to send some fotos but i love you soooo much!!!! Send my love to everyone and tell Daniel congrats! hey what is Bruce's new job that they get to travel? thats sweet! Hey i hope you have a great week!!!!! Love you!!!! Tell mom to rest up and take it easy :) Tell connelly to keep up being awesome! Love you

November 11, 2013 Formosa, Argentina

Yay for Oroville football! How awesome is that?! And I am super glad to hear that Charlie is still on a mission high. I think of their family all the time.

Well, I am sorry that this email is a little late. Today was kinda awful. I have not thrown up like i did this morning in years. I actually don´t remember the last time I felt so gross. I think i threw up nine times, and yep, in the end there was simply way too much grossness leaving my body. Yikes! What a great way to start pday, no?! I am better now...well I am still watching for bathrooms because I am still pretty out of it, and I couldn´t email you tomorrow either because I have a multi-zone conference in the morning and then divisions in the night. Oh, so
we had transfers this week and me and my companion are still together, but I was called as a sister training leader! Yep I knew the president was thinking about calling me in Resistencia, but when I came here, I didn´t think I would be called, but I was! I am a little nervous because now I am a leader and I need to be an example, but I know how to work and what needs to be done. It is just strange because now I am going to have to present things in zone meetings and go to consejo. It should be really fun!

So this week was strange. We are going to be changing apartments, and we now have Elders in our area, We are waiting for things to be bought, and we had to look for lunches and stuff for the Elders. Also, we had stake conference this weekend and president Heyman and his wife spoke as well as president Boyden and his wife. He is the temple president in Asuncion, Paraguay. Hermana Boyden had the exact same accent as grandma Quick, and they also have six sons... what a coincidence!

Soooo my new companion...We work really well together but we definitely two different people. We both love the work and in lessons we do great. Our zone leaders are also both from Peru and one was my leader before. They are super cool. My comp does have some unique ways about her like the way she tells stories and has some different manerisms, but all is good. We get along great. We are working like crazy and having a great time. I am learning tons from her!

Let's see...we should have three baptisms this week, so that is suuuper exciting! oh yeah, it is super hot! It isn´t too bad yet, but we have to wear hats. I hate wearing my sun hat. It is a pain and it makes my head itch because I am sweating, but we have to wear them as it is a rule. My hair is also way blonder now and my skin is much darker but not too dark. It's freaky because there is still a lot more heat to come. Gross! Well, i love you
all so much!!!! I am doing great and my area is great and well...we have people to teach, but we need a ton more. You are always in my prayers! Love you all and I hope you have a great week!

November 4, 2013 Rama Parque - Formosa

Way to go Connelly!!!!!! I seriously got chills reading your letter! What a stud! (Connelly had a great game of football last Friday night)

Oh so i am now in Formosa...again. I am in Rama Parque. I have never had so many members on my member directory and this is a tiny area too sooo there is a lot of work to do to get people active again. We had 25 people at church including us so i really hope we can improve. No, i know we will, and when i called president today to leave our area he said that he thinks we will see tons of success in our area.

Oh so I have a new companion Hermana Otiniano from Peru!!!! Yep it happened i got a Latina and yep like you said it is waaay different, but i speak enough that it is alright and like you said she has a lot of preconceptions about the states It's different, but it is weird having so much help in lessons. I am also the senior companion and i am finishing her training so that should be fun. It is weird because she knows the language but she doesn´t always do the lessons right because she doesn't know the lessons as well enough. she is also a little less direct but it is all good. those are easy things to change. She is cool though. she is very concerned that i don´t wear makeup though and that i don't wear ear rings and that i don´t cook. well i avoid it here. if you cook it usually involves frying and that grosses me out. yep she is in wife training mode and that to me is strange because i just wanna be the best missionary possible and she is super concerned about her level of cariño o algo así (kindness or something like that). whatever:) we recognize that we are different and we are working like crazy, Oh, they are also dividing our tiny area so we are gonna have elders also, which is great because we need way more priesthood. Oh and my first day here i also got to have another interview with president Heyman, so pretty much we are good friends now and apparently he spoke very highly of me to my companion because she told me ¨so everybody loves you like i don´t understand. everyone is saying how awesome you are.¨  It made me feel good to know i come highly recommended :) I still have so much to learn also but all is good.

The dogs here are still ugly and yep i am gonna send some pictures to you now but i love you soooo much!!!! I miss you all a ton but i know i have a lot more to learn. Tell charlie hi for me!!! I was praying for him this week that the transition would be nice and smooth. But hey have i mentioned how much i love you...i love you a lot! Good luck this week and tell Connelly to keep up the good work:)

October 28, 2013 Resistencia, Argentina

Connelly is such a stud!!! Is someone filming these games?! I wanna see these amazing things when I get back :)

Charlie is going home this week. i never would of thought that i would be missing his home coming talk...weird.

So for this week, well this week was a hard one, it wasn´t that hot...well Wednesday was brutal!!! It was the day before a huge storm so they cut the power because there was so much electricity in the air but during the day it was hard to breath from the humidity, but then it got perfect again. Now it is starting to heat up again and everyday it gets a little hotter. So far i haven´t felt like it was so bad but my companions straight up died! i think my chronic coldness might come in handy :) But yeah it was a really hard week lesson wise!

I am so glad Hna Dean got her visa!!!!!! I talked to someone today who remembered me from the ccm(MTC). i didn´t realize she had the same time as me but she just got here! Crazy! Yep i am very blessed that I didn't have to wait long for my visa.

It's going to be short and swee this week. Sorry.  i love you soooo much!!!!! I think about you all all the time and well you are the very very best family in the whole world and i won´´t lie (that's a sin): I miss you all. After a hard week of not seeing much success, i realized how much i missed you all. It was rough but i am so excited to keep going because the mission is amazing! It's crazy hard, but it is so worth it to see people change their lives and become truly happy. Have i mentioned that i love you!

OH! I tried to send your package, but they said i had to go to a different correo(post office) so next monday i will try again. Man that thing is full of letters and pictures and yep i am so sorry you haven´t received anything in such a long time, i have written letters to timmerie, naomi, taylor, kimber, sister demartino, abril, the timm girls, and the fam of course and i think a couple others...my goal for next week is to get the package in the mail so everyone will get their letters and stuff! Hey i love you and i got to go buy stuff for a new apartment and get it all set up but i love you tons! Enjoy your meeting! Good luck with your last football game!

October 21, 2013 Resistencia, Argentina

Haha dad you are so busy it is crazy! Oh and people don´t say chevere they use capo..Vos sos re capo! haha oh Argentinian slang. Tell connelly to keep up the good work in football! it sounds like he is kicking trash!

It is freaky with all the new missionaries coming in as i am actually considered older on the mission, but i am still new in my mind and a couple weeks shy of 6 months in Argentina. For some reason counting time doesn´t make me trunky. It just freaks me out to see how fast time has been flying by! It is straight up crazy! i still feel like a major newbie at times because there is still so much i don´t know. i have random moments when i get crazy nervous. i had to talk in primary at the last minute this Sunday and i was suuuper nervous. i don´t know why because it is just a bunch of kids, but my companions were teasing me afterwards:) Yep, in front of investigators i have no fear. i have no problem calling people to repentance, but with a member present i instantly get a little nervous. I am hoping that feeling eventually fades, but it has been getting better :)

Oh so my interview this week was awesome! President Heyman is super cool and apparently every time he sees me he always tells my companions ¨she is a good missionary¨ It makes me happy to know that he thinks highly of me because in my interview he told me a couple times that i was doing good sooo yea it was awesome, and his wife is just so cool! They are both really sweet people and i can tell how much they care for all of the missionaries. Dad you are so cool giving talks in Spanish and English! what a beast!

Oh! this week it was hotter and thank goodness it rained last night because it cooled down a little bit, but it keeps getting worse and worse. it isn´t unbearable but i keep hearing that this heat is nothing right now. Last week my companions and i were walking and we were trying to find an inactive member and we were walking on calle 12 and you know what? calle 12 never seemed to end. It just kept going and going and going and we found that there were thousands of more people in our area... it wasn´t on the map but it was really overwhelming to say the least. Next week they are going to send more missionaries our way to divide the area, but it is still gigantic! I have now been in the area for 3 months, but it doesn´t feel that long yet. Sorry that i haven´t taken pictures lately i am setting a goal right now to improve:) and well...you wanted stories about the buses or something... well a ride in a colectivo(bus) is usually pretty chill if you sit in the middle of the bus during the siesta but if not, you are usually crammed in, and the bus driver hauls. Most times there aren´t stop lights or stop signs. there are plenty of speed bumps so when the bus hit the bump you usually catch some sick air. Yep, sometimes it is better to be standing because it can hurt your bum, but if you are going long distance on a better bus, it is comfy...well some buses are old and sketchy but normally they are really nice when they're going longer distances.

I thought i was going to die the other day in a remis too! I am seen a lot of people laying in the street because their moto(motorcycle) got hit. it is sketchy at times driving around here.

Oh, this past Saturday we also did a service project in the morning with the helping hands thing, so i got to wear a cool yellow penny but all we did was collect recyclable things. it was fun though! :)

Lets see funny stories... Hna Hext asked a guy in a wheel chair the other day, "Cómo anda?" which was just super ironic. (Como anda is how you ask how somebody is doing in Argentina...it literally means how are you walking though, so sometimes people to be smart Aleks they'll respond by saying "with my feet"). Hna Skirvin...well she is just super funny! Oh man, she cracks me up all the time. i make faces at her all day, and with the heat she fell asleep in a couple lessons so it was fun trying to discreetly wake her up.

Oh we are also getting a group of visa waiters coming next week and then the next week is transfers so we have two chances for changes. hmm yep lets see i am sorry i sat down today and got suuuper tired. But all is well, hey can you describe subjunctive for me. i use it but i don´t understand it at all! Hey i hope everything is going great there :) whoa Halloween is coming up! what are you all gonna do?! Hey i love you all sooo much! You are always in my prayers and i will send you some awesome pics next week :)Love you!

Warming up in Resistencia - October 14, 2013

Whoa can i just say i got chills reading about my beastly brother playing in football Friday night!!!! What a stud! Keep up the great work Connelly :)

(I asked Reinna to describe a typical day for me)
Well I will describe a regular day for you. We wake up every morning at 6:30 (hardest part of the day) then i normally write in my journal because with 3 girls in our tiny apartment and also an extra fridge and stove in the middle of everything, we don't have space right now for exercises. I just signed a contract(for another apartment) for some new hermanas, so hopefully they will transfer in someone new and split our area but in the meantime... After that i do personal study. I always do my personal study in English, and I study for whoever we will be teaching that day, so i plan out what scriptures we will use. i then read a chapter in the new testament, a chapter in the book of Mormon, a section from the doctrine and covenants, and finally a talk from the liahona. That varies from day to day depending on what our investigators needs are and if someone asked a question that i didn't know. After that at 9 we have companionship study. We pray together (we also pray to start and finish personal study). We then read the white bible (missionary rules book), we discuss what each of us studied individually, what we learned personally, and what is going to benefit the people we teach. After that I direct their training. We have a manual we use for that but we pretty much we work on improving our teaching skills and how we can help people more effectively. We always end companionship study by doing varias praticas(various practices) about what we are gonna teach that day, what we reviewed in training, and really anything that we need to work on. We end with a prayer and then we study español. I made a goal last week to finish the book of Mormon in Spanish before my 9 month mark. That has been coming along well, but i am terrified for the Isaiah chapters in Nefi(Nephi) because i know i will need my dictionary for almost every word. Maybe i will just go back in forth with my English for those ones. Anyway then we get ready to go. We have lunch with members from 12:30 to 1:30. Lunches can be kind of awkward because i have to be the one to talk because my companions can't do it yet at a high level, so i just drill them with questions until they start talking freely. One of my companions always shares a scripture with them and i help them out and we ask for references and then we start the day off. After lunch it is always brutal because you are usually overfed and full and it is starting to get really warm now, so it is hard not to join everyone else in a siesta. So the day usually starts off pretty rough unless you have an appointment set. We then use our list of members to find people, so we walk around looking for our less actives and then we contact their neighbors and pray that someone lets us sit down and chat for a little bit. That is a general day i will write a letter with more details of an actual day with thoughts and everything.

Hey, could you let the Martin's know i got their card! It was awesome! Also Hermana DeMartino! And Abril, I have received her letters too and i have a package ready to send home with letters. i hope it gets there soon!

Oh so from this week it rained crazy hard. i actually woke up at like 2 or 3 in the morning because i had this dream about lightning and thunder. Yep, i jumped out of bed and hurdled my companion and brought in all of our drying clothes in perfect time. By the time i closed the slider the rain was coming down in buckets! It's like the holy ghost knew i needed dry clothes :) The next day i also killed a huuuuge cockroach! We walked into our apartment and i was doing something and Hna Skirvin made this really weird squeak-moan sound and i asked her what was up. She didn't respond, so i walked over and she was frozen, staring down at a 2 or 3 inch long cockroach! Yea Hna Hext also looked terrified so as the mother (trainer) I had to kill the sucker! It was so gross and it was a battle because it was like he could detect the shoe coming its way, but in the end i was victorious :) Also Ramon got baptized! It took two hermanos to get him in the pileta (baptismal font) and then they had to baptize him 4 times as they couldn't seem to submerse him completely each time. i thought they were gonna drown the poor guy, but as an ex-boxer he took it so well. Oh and he only has 81 years, his wife who died would be 85(aww).

Yep so streets like rivers, tons of humidity, and a ton of heat was what happened this week. It was exciting :) My hijas are doing really well and we are hoping for some more baptisms in 2 weeks but it will be tough, but i am doing great, super exhausted and well this week was bad for my obedience. It gets harder and harder to wake up everyday, but it is alright. But i am still loving life. Oh pobre Hna Hext has major blisters and Hna Skirivin too! I feel pretty bad. i never got blisters. i just get tons of mosquito bites. and yes, i got the packages!!!!! Thanks you sooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did a dance last week but it was only for a second as the reglas are still intact...it was more like a wiggle. But hey i love you sooo much! thank you so much for sending me all that stuff! And thanks for always keeping me in the loop on what you are up to. Tell mom i love her with all my heart. oh, and let Kimber know i got her letter! It was amazing! I love you all sooo much! :)  Good luck this week and suerte con the officiating! oh i have interviews this week with president Heyman so that will be cool :) Hey love you!!!!

October 7, 2013 Resistencia, Argentina

Dad i think it is a miracle you function like you do sometimes when don't even sleep?! Yeah you can send me a letter or two in Spanish. i can read just fine, in the computer it is a pain to write though with accents and all, but go for it, and you can write in vos. i was thinking about it the other day and i after the mission it is gonna be way weird being able to speak in tu and vos...yep can´t imagine it :) Hna Danielle Hext is from Snowflake Arizona. oh she´s a good one. Yea we had to postpone our baptism a little bit but he is definitely getting baptized. We will have to have two people help him into the font and then we are gonna have him sit on a bench and just tilt him back...i am soooo excited! Hey seriously tell Connelly to keep up the good work in football! Hey is he still my little brother or did he gain a bunch of weight or get taller or anything? OH!! I have all my pictures! They are on a cd! I will send them to you :) A member here read the blog and he then called me up and told me he had my photos all backed up! yay! He speaks English that's how he knew...like seriously, i love my ward! Yeah speaking Spanish with gringas is tough, but when we are out of the house we usually do it, but sometimes telling stories is so much funnier in English. Hey can you explain sos to me, like vos is like tú but different but the sos thing throws me. Whoops i ran out of time again...i am so sorry! I found the correo(post office) so you will be getting a package soon...well i hope it is soon, but i love you sooo much and i am so excited to show you everything here in a year, i love it! Well i hate the animals here but everything else is amazing! I love you so much dad and I hope you are doing great! Oh my goodness conference was soooo good! I watched it in English with all the other gringas. so good! Hey i love love love you and think of you always :)
Hermana Quick
Alright so i think i sent you a picture of a random pregnant horse, the chaco forever stadium, which is totally sketchy like on game nights (we can´t go anywhere near it or we will die), hna skirvin eating pizza, and then i sent you a pic of Corrientes, it is super pretty! Hey i love you!

Training TWO in Resistencia - September 20, 2013

Ahhh dad your vos was so sweet! normally i get frustrated when personas say things to me in vos pero i loved it when it came from you!!!!! So spanish is complicating my brain right now, i am on divisions with Hna Seeley! yep we served in Wisconsin together and today our hijas (greenies) are at a newbie conference so we got permission to spend the day together. I am in Corrientes and it is so weird because we have only been talking in Spanish. The last time we were together we were waiting for visas. Oh yeah translados (change day) happened and i am now a mother of two gringas who are brand spankin new! Hna Skirvin is still with me and now i have a newbie from the ccm(Missionary Training Center) Hna Hext. She speaks surprisingly well. i mean she doesn´t understand everything yet but she is doing great! It is pretty crazy though as i am a mom of two gringas and we are one of two trios. The other is a trio of all latinas...I don´t know why, but president Heyman seems to trust me a lot.

I expect pictures of the house of grandma and grandpa quick! (Special note that Reinna is obviously thinking in Spanish here as normal people would say Grandma's house, not the house of grandma. The grandparents have sold their house in Spokane and are moving this month to another place out in the valley.) Hey and bien hecho (well done) with reading and praying together every day! That's amazing! So I must say coming on the mission has really made me realize how much i did not know. Like scripture wise i have a long way to go and Hna Hext has studied a ton, so now i have a ton of deep doctrinal stuff in my brain. i love personal study time! Oh yeah hna Johansen is a sister training leader now in Corrientes also...I don´t know how that's going, but she is very diligent so she will be a great example to the other hnas. Yea the only exciting thing that happened this week is that i am now training two and we are preparing the baptism of a 85 year old man! Super excited to send you a picture of that! Oh and i don´t know if i told you but half the photos from my first area got deleted i don´t know what happened but i am trying to make up for it now in this area. If i think of all the photos i lost, i get kinda sad, but it is okay. i have many more memories to make, and i will record them. Have tons of fun talking in the spanish ward! That sounds like tons of fun! So any advice on how to motivate myself to speak spanish all the time? It is close to impossible, but no sé...quizás hay un secreto (I don't know...maybe there is a secret). Well send my love to everyone! thank you so much for all that you do dad. you are the greatest ejemplo.  Hey i am gonna attach some fotos but i love you soooooo much! Send my love to the fam!!!!

September 23, 2013 Resistencia, Argentina

Reinna continues to do awesome. Here's her latest response to our emails. I've edited some content out, but hey, that's what I do to protect the names of the innocent:)

...so church words just sound weird in English, even writing them is strange to me and reading them is even more bizarre... Well the other day i actually starting feeling better about my Spanish because i have finally started using bits and pieces of the subjunctive mode, i don't have past subjunctive down yet but i am just trying to get those pesky noun clauses down. I also had divisions this week with a girl from Buenos Aires and well i surprised myself because this was my first whole day in Spanish with a latin companion and it wasn't hard at all. I mean if we had more time maybe it would be harder but for a day it was a piece of cake and it was great to drill her with questions..... I am safe and sound here, so don't worry!  i know that really know spanish though because i spent most of the week looking for apartments and talking about rent and furniture...yea i see improvement but i also see a lot of things to do still but by the end i will have it so much better. Well i think i should attach some photos to keep you sane and all :) Photos can be found on the Photos tab above.

I love you so much and i really hope you don't worry too much about me. i really am safe and protected and our members are always looking out for us! I am feeling way better health wise and really i am loving life! I love the mission and it is crazy stressful but vale la pena(worth it). tell everyone how much i love them!!!! Tell Connelly to keep up the good work and send my love to Austi and Bruce! And of course reassure mom that i am great because i seriously am! My area is great and a veces(at times) sketchy but i am smart and i know how to avoid trouble so no worries. I love you so much and i hope you get to respond before I have to leave the computer today.

love you sooooo much!!!!

Conferencia de Hermanas - Photo hacked from Sister Heyman's website:) Reinna is right behind the mission president and his wife (The Heyman's)

Another pic hacked from Sister Heyman's blog - She was in a couple of others, but you can't see her face except the one above....but she's there and looks happy!

We had a big conference Monday for all the sister missionaries in the mission. First one ever in our mission because we have so many sister missionaries now.

The conference was awesome! I was soooo excited to see all the hermanas especially hna Baker! I had moments where i was frustrated and i wanted to talk but really i had so much fun with her, we both seriously almost cried when we saw each other, but she is doing great. She is just struggling with a companion who has the same time as me but still can't speak so well, but my companion is doing good. This week has been tougher for her because i know that I have to just chuck her under the bus and make her participate in speaking or she won't talk so i don't think she is super thrilled, but she is learning. I am really sorry i don't have more time, but i have to be back in my pension in a tiny bit.

Oh, the weather...yeah, it got cold again and it is just starting to heat up again, but so far my boots are alright. The rainboots here are awful! They kill my feet but i can tough it out. i have not received the packages yet but i got a letter from you today, but i have not read it yet! i am super stoked though. i like reading your emails so don't worry about writing me a novel, it keeps me on my toes! I love you dad and i swear you will get tons more information next week!
hermana quick
PS. Tell Connelly he is a straight up stud!!!! I wanna give him a huuuge hug! dang he's so cool:)

September 9, 2013 Resistencia, Argentina

Hna Baker and I rocking it in the mud in San Juan 1

First email today:

(Yadahyahyadah....personal stuff dad edits. Some things are simply not meant to be on a blog, which is why this post is a little shorter than most:)

Yeah people have told me about that whole culture difference with a latina companion, but i just want one transfer immersed and then i am totally cool with another gringa or whoever the Prez sends my way, but i am really struggling to help my companion and then learn more for myself at the same time. I'll get there eventually, but I would like the chance to be immersed with the language with a latin companion sometime soon. In the meantime Hma Skirvin and I will learn and work hard together.

Well, this week has been good. i am stressed and tired because i haven't been sleeping and my lideres have been breathing down my neck, but it is all good. At this point it is hot and being sick and hot is very uncomfortable but it will pass. I hope you aren't worried or anything. i really am great! just the stress of the mission :) Well i don't have any time left, but could you call austi today and let her know that i didn't have time to email this week but this Sunday i will be thinking about her a ton! We will be having some confirmations that day so it is gonna be great! I love you dad. Sorry i had a ton of emails this week and i couldn't write everyone, but i love you!!!! now i need to eat as i just realized i haven't really done that today :' whoops!
Hermana Quick
Have i mentioned how much i love you! and our family!

2nd email today in response to an earlier email I had sent:

Oh dad your weekly letters make me so happy! Tell Pte Walker hi for me and that not to worry i am working hard! :) Well my week wasn't quite as exciting as yours:) well it is getting suuuper hot! but people keep laughing and telling us that we haven't seen anything yet and that we are gonna die...how comforting. I think the heat or something made me sick because i have been down for two days i threw up and had a fever, but i still went and gave my talk at church which was surprisingly easy because with the pain in my gut and the spirit i didn't have any room left to be nervous. I think it went pretty well for my first talk in Argentina. my companion is doing pretty good. i need to be better at talking to her in spanish, but i can tell she is understanding more. she just always checks with me first in english and then she tries to speak. she is doing good though...... i know that in a year i might have the hang of this language. I am not doing too bad though because we are having two baptisms this week!!!! yay!!! They will get confirmed on Austi's birthday! Oh and this morning my comp and i deep cleaned our apartment! the mold didn't seem to bother the other missionaries but it was sick! We wiped down the walls and wiped our bed down and then replaced our mattresses because they had bugs. So all is good now. :) No dog stories, they are still here but they don't attack or go crazy like the ones in my other area. there are tons of turtles though!!! And they are big! i still haven't taken a picture because everyone always talks about people getting their bags stolen like it is a problem here...i don't wanna lose my camera, but i am gonna send this your way! love you!!!! Thank you so much for being the best dad in the world!!!!!! Tell everyone how much i love them too!!!

September 2, 2013 Resistencia, Argentina

Well you are gonna be shocked to know that my companionship has changed AGAIN because i am now training a greeny from the states!!! She doesn´t know much Spanish, she is half Mexican though so everyone thinks she knows what is going on, but yeah she doesn´t speak much Spanish at all quite yet. It is weird because i was giving most of the lesson before but now i literally teach the entire lesson! I'm sure she will progress quickly though. I stayed in the same area though and i feel like i can get around now, but i have moments when i am still a little lost. We wandered here in Centro just looking for this cyber for half an hour, but i found it! yay! Yea so our numbers have been pretty low, it is driving me up the wall! They made a new rule about lessons. Now we have to be sitting in order for it to count as a lesson, soooo yeah we still meet a ton of people but yea our lideres talked to me for a half hour this morning telling me what i need to do. I was a very respectful but they were just telling me to do what i already had planned. I must say though, there is way more pressure being the senior comp but then to have a companion who can´t help speak too much is really hard. I am still working hard, I am determined to improve this week! My new comp is super cool though, she is kinda quiet but she is opening up, she is from Utah and she has two sisters and they are triplets! She also waited for a visa in Vancouver Washington for 5 weeks. Oh her name is Hna Skirvin. The other day i discovered that all the ditches in our area are full of turtles!!!!! They are huge! and shockingly fast. It is also getting hotter here so we will undoubtedly be seeing more spiders, snakes, and scorpions and of course mosquitoes...All things that i hate of course, but it is all part of the fun :/ I wrote you a letter the other day in Spanish so hopefully i can find the correo soon so i can send you all a package. Thanks for sending me tons of good stuff!!! So i have no problem whatsoever focusing during the week on the work, but on Sundays i must say i miss you all a lot! I miss going to church with you all and then coming home and hanging out! I will be doing that with you all in a year, but still Sundays are the hardest day of the week. I love you sooooo much! oh so every hermana in our mission now is either training or in the process of being trained, it is crazy! and in 3 weeks we will have transfers again and the visa waiters are really starting to come, i will probably stay with my companion, but do you have any advice on how to teach someone a new language in like no time? i try to speak with her only in Spanish but because she doesn´t understand she just kinda zones out at times and then i ask her a question and then she responds in Spanish...yeah i don´t know how i have learned as much Spanish as i have because all my companions speak English. literally they make jokes about the fact that i am the only hermana in the mission who has never had a latina companion, and with all the visa waiters i probably never will, but time will tell:) Well i need to email pte Heyman, but i love you soooo much!  I hope you have a great week and don´t forget to pray for me! Hey and tell Connelly he can email me too! Oh and austi, is she still alive? I will write Carina and Maria today as well. I love you sooo much!  Good luck being a white hat, you will do great!

Hermana Quick

PS. I need to send you some more pics, but in my new area it is a little more dangerous and i can´t bring my camera with me so hopefully i can take some pictures today. vamos a ver, espero que podamos. Sorry i am gonna respond and then i got to go, but there are a lot of people who drive by on motos(motorcycles) and take your bag and at night there is hardly any light, and everything is far from our pension(apartment) so i can´t go back to put my camera away, i don´t know. i don´t feel like it is too sketchy or dangerous but all of the members here tell us horrible stories, but i love you dad! Hope you have a great week!

August 26, 2013 Resistencia, Argentina

Goat head, sheep head? YUMMY!

I don´t remember what pics i sent last week to tell you more about but this week is just some random ones and one from our baptism this Saturday! It sounds like oak city was awesome! I felt the slightest tingle of jealousy but really i am not "trunky" as i have a year more of this and i don´t wanna go home yet because i have sooooo much more to learn. and let me tell you, i am definitely learning! This week was a challenge, but we're doing great! It is super cold here by the way!!!!!!! i only got a couple hours of sleep last night because i couldn´t feel my feet! I woke up really ticked off because of it, but quickly gained my composure and read my scriptures:) This week was crazy what with planning our baptism and all and our shower head broke and we ran out of gas. But our bishop saved the day and brought us gas after a couple days so all was well. It has been cold all week though and not having hot water was pretty brutal, but at least we can heat up water now :) I can´t believe hna dean is still in washington! that's crazy! Thanks for giving me hna Crawley's address. i hope i can find the correo soon because i need to send some letters. Well it sounds like everyone is great! I whined more than i wanted to in this email but i was kinda on edge before we got here. oh we have 30 visa waiters coming this week and 15 are hermanas so we are gonna have a mini translado this week. I hope they split our area because it is gigantic! We spend a lot of the day traveling.  Well i love you sooooo much! and you don´t have to worry about me getting trunky. i do look forward to the day you pick me up and i can talk in spanish fluently...whoa that seems like forever away and yet right around the corner! I love you dad! Make sure the family also knows how much i care about them. i never forget to pray for you all and i know heavenly father is looking after you all! I miss you but i know this work is so important,i wish more people would realize that our message is crucial to their lives. What we do now affects our life after and this life is a time to grow and it will be hard but without the gospel it would seem near impossible! Thanks for always remaining fiel! I love you with all my heart and thank you so much for always emailing me and keeping me in your prayers :)

August 19, 2013 Transferred to Resistencia, Argentina

Reinna with her new companion Hermana Johansen

Oh dad my week....yep transfers happened and i am now in resistencia! I am finishing the training of Hermana Johansen...yep I am with another gringa in a massive area. I was kinda freaking out the first two days majorly! Hna johansen was in the mtc with me and she waited in ohio a transfer more thanme but she is here now and i am now her senior companion. (Could be a little uncomfortable since we started our mission at the same time, but we'll work together well I'm sure!) I am pretty overwhelmed but i know the lord called me to do this so i can do it, but it has been a rough week. My new area is gigantic! probably 3 times the size of my other area and i still haven't seen huge parts of it. We are the only missionaries in our ward, but our ward is super awesome! They all want to help us sooo much. Oh so yesterday our shower broke so now we are all about bucket baths, my companion thinks bucket baths are fun....i think everyone knows this, but i think showers are the best thing ever! Especially when it is cold and yep it has been chilly lately. The first cold day here in Resistencia was my first day here, well according to the people but that is okay with me because that means the summer won't hit us for a little bit...i am so scared of the summer here as everyone here talks about how hot and awful it is. Yay :/ Lets see what else...Oh we have a baptism this Saturday. The hermana who I replaced just went home and she was here my first day so she filled me in a ton because my companion now doesn't understand everything yet, so some things she doesn't know because her companion always took care of it. I am understanding way more now, but talking is hard, I can talk but i know there are some grammatical things that i am not using yet, like subjunctive. I recognise it when people are talking but it is way harder to use myself. Yep that has pretty much been my week, chaos and tons of stress. I know i can survive in argentina with the amount of spanish i know but i am more concerned about helping people recieve our message...thankfully we have a lot of members who want to accompany us and well, we will learn how to really help people better in time. Soooo yep. I am so glad you and Connelly had soo much fun in utah! I am excited to hear what all you did:) You are a driving maniac! Did connelly drive at all? How is connelly? How is austi? how is uncle bruce? Grandma and grandpa quick? Mom? grandma Judy? hey i love you soooo much! tell the family how much i love them too :) I pray for you every day and again i love you with all my heart! I hope you have a great week!
